We are currently exploring becoming a Community Development Trust which will enable us to get a member of staff to help us with our work and will also enable us to acquire property for the benefit of the residents of Newlyn. We are looking at a potential property which could be run as a small sport/community centre which would complement the community centre at Trinity.

We are looking to develop small play spaces in Newlyn as part of the regeneration process and are currently talking to Penwith District Council about developing the fenced area next to Newlyn Art Gallery as a much-needed under 5s play area.

We are fully committed to ensuring everybody in Newlyn knows as much as possible about the regeneration project and that the community are consulted at every significant stage. We are helping to promote a series of public meetings concerning the regeneration process. We will shortly be assisting the Environment sub group of the Newlyn Fish Industry Forum to hold its first public meeting and will be talking to Hyder consultants who are carrying out the hydrographical study and associated works connected with the development of the harbour about the public consultation process.
